How to get more gym members: a practical plan.

Gym member retention past month six

Retention starts before someone signs. What to track at month three and six, the early warning signs, and simple habits that keep members.

Gym growth reading order Read it in the order members arrive.

A new member passes four checkpoints: they find you, they enquire, they book and turn up, and they sign and stay. Most gyms lose people at one checkpoint more than the rest. Start with the stage where yours leak, then work outwards; the way we run it for our gyms follows the same order.

  1. Get found

People search “gym near me” long before they fill in a form. Your Google profile is the shop window they check first.

  2. Get enquiries

Ads aimed at people within driving distance of the gym, judged by members signed, not by the cheapest lead.

  3. Book and show

Reach every enquiry within minutes, say the right thing on the phone, and give them an intro worth turning up for.

  4. Sign and stay

The scoreboard that matters: members still paying at month three and month six, not a lead count.
